Director of Community Connection

 

About this position:

         The Director of Community Connection will give leadership and oversight to The Block (an offsite facility of New Hope Church ministering to middle and high school students). The community Connection pastor will coordinate volunteers and determine programming for The Block in conjunction with The Block Leadership team. This position will also develop ways for The Block to be a resource to the community at large.

         The Community Connection pastor will serve as a staff member of New Hope Church and will be the point of contact between the congregation and The Block. Sharing stories, testimonies, and celebrating the fruit of the ministry from The Block.         

About us

New Hope Church is a healthy growing church. We have seen God moving in some exciting ways over the last few years. We have 140-160 people in attendance on Sundays. New Hope is a welcoming church that loves people well. We excel in hospitality and being real. We’re located in Lebanon, Oregon. Lebanon is a small town in the beautiful Willamette Valley with a population of about 19,000. The coast is about an hour and a half drive, and it’s an even shorter drive to the Cascade Mountains. New Hope Church exists to glorify God by growing disciples who embody the transformative power of Christ to reach the lost through love and service.

General Overview

Serves under the Senior Pastor to provide leadership in Local Mission/community connection.

 Responsibilities:

 Property:

Provide directional oversight of The Block, buildings and physical resources.

Curate, develop, produce and maintain a dynamic, sanitary, safe and hospitable space to host participants. 

Develop an efficient storage and inventory system for The Block’s physical resources.

Oversee ongoing upkeep and maintenance of The Block buildings and physical resources.

Program & Policy:

Provide defining goals and vision toward the formation, implementation and ongoing development of The Block ministry programs practices, activities, policies and procedures.

Oversee implementation of and accountability to The Block programs, practices, activities, policies and procedures.

Assess, direct, manage and enact corrective measures in harmony with the preservation of programs, practices, activities, policies and procedures. 

Facilitate the review and revision of The Block programs, practices, activities, policies and procedures with NHC and program staff.

Personnel:

Recruit, train, coach, and disciple qualified staff.  

Develop and implement volunteer qualifications, requirements, standards, and expectations.

Ensure adherence to applicable state regulations and security policies.

Maintain current volunteer roster and background checks.

Communication:

Ensure regular, proactive dialog with Lead Pastor, NHC leadership team, The Block volunteer staff, program participants, and community partners.

Communicate ministry wants/needs (funding, equipment, facility, etc.) to feasible supporters/contributors (pursue grants as appropriate).

Advertise and promote The Block existence, mission, location, and program to the greater Lebanon area.

Report ministry status, progress, opportunities, challenges, and testimonies monthly to NHC congregation.

Communicate program status, progress, opportunities, challenges, and testimonies to community partners via effective communication media.

Pastoral Support:

Attend regular staff meetings.

Preach as needed (and available).

Assist with Sunday services as needed.

Other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor.

Qualifications

Be a covenant signer of New Hope Church (or become one).

Work towards Accreditation and Ordination with the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ.

Model servant leadership.

Commitment to moral purity.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Competency in computer skills such as Word, Excel, Email and Internet.

Abilities

Identify relevant issues, and programming for community connection.

Train and recruit leaders for ministry.

Have a gospel centered ministry and focus.

Plan and prioritize work to meet job requirements.

Navigate conversations and situations in a way that keeps you above reproach.

Maintain a budget for ministry area responsibilities.

Compensation

Annual Salary $50-55K depending on education and experience. Optional retirement match up to three percent of annual salary. This position offers 3 weeks of vacation.
